Marty Donnelly celebrates with a jig after scoring for Cliftonville

Cliftonville continued their title drive on Friday night with a comfortable 4-0 win over Ards at Clandeboye Park.

A clinical double from Joe Gormley laid the foundations for victory, with Martin Donnelly and Liam Boyce completing the scoring.

It saw the Reds move to within one point of leaders Crusaders and second-placed Linfield at the top of the Danske Bank Premiership - while Ards remain rooted to the bottom.

Cliftonville took the lead in the ninth minute when Gormley tapped home after Graeme McKibbin parried Martin Murray’s initial effort.

It was 2-0 on 13 minutes when Ronan Scannell set up Donnelly who scored with aplomb.

Cliftonville scored their third in the 57th minute when Boyce fired the ball high into the net.

The Reds added a fourth in the 79th minute when Tomas Cosgrove took advantage of some slack defending on the left flank, with a low cross that was converted by Gormley, who really couldn’t miss from six yards.
