Two late goals from substitute Diarmuid O’Carroll earned Cliftonville a 4-2 victory over Linfield at Windsor Park.
Joe Gormley’s double had given the Reds a 2-0 lead before the half-hour mark, only for James Knowles and Aaron Burns to hit back for the Blues.
But in a thrilling spectacle substitute O’Carroll deflected Barry Johnston’s shot past Jonathan Tuffey in the 77th minute, before completing the win in injury time with a fourth for the visitors.
Three goals in the space of five minutes spiced up this showdown in south Belfast.
Gormley fired the Reds ahead in the 26th minute with a drilled shot into the bottom corner before doubling his and Cliftonville’s tally two minutes later with a cool finish after being sent through by Liam Boyce.
Knowles reduced the arrears in the 31st minute with a sublime direct free-kick against his former club.
Linfield blasted out of the blocks in the second half and drew level in the 64th minute.
Knowles was the provider, sending in a vicious corner that was headed home by Aaron Burns at the back post.
Cliftonville forged ahead in the 77th minute with O’Carroll deflecting Barry Johnston’s shot past the helpless Tuffey.
The points were wrapped up in injury time when O’Carroll latched onto a long ball before lobbing the stranded Tuffey.
