COLERAINE 3 WARRENPOINT TOWN 2
Coleraine started the game well with Gareth Tommons and Shane Jennings going close in the first 10 minutes.
Johnny Parr in the visitors goal denied Jennings again on 26 minutes when it looked certain the striker would score.
The deadlock was finally broken five minutes before the break and that man Jennings was at the heart off it again. He picked up Tommons’ lay before surging past several defenders on his way in to the box, where he cut the ball back for the waiting Gary Browne for an easy tap in.
The hosts didn’t have long to wait for the second though as Browne played in Stevie Lowry and he coolly slotted home on 44 minutes.
The visitors started the second half in determined fashion and they got their reward three minutes after the restart as Daniel Hughes turned and fired in from the edge of the box. And they deservedly grabbed an equaliser on 59 minutes. Timmy Grant did well to get to the byline before crossing for Liam Bagnall, his initial effort was blocked by McIlmoyle on the line, but he reacted quickest to fire in the rebound.
Remarkably it was Coleraine who scored next as Jennings headed in from close range after Browne’s clever chip had hit the bar to seal a much-needed win for Oran Kearney’s men.
