NEWRY City’s shock demise will mean the club that finishes bottom of IFA Championship 2 this season will not be relegated.
The was one of the decisions made by the IFA Championship Management Committee which met on Tuesday.
The committee met to consider the impact and ramifications of Newry City FC Limited’s membership of the Association being terminated by the IFA Board.
Promotion between the IFA Premiership and IFA Championship will remain unchanged, while the bottom club in IFA Championship 1 shall be relegated to IFA Championship 2 and the top two clubs in IFA Championship 2 shall be promoted to IFA Championship 1.
The club finishing bottom of IFA Championship 2 shall not be relegated.
Promotion to IFA Championship 2 shall be determined by means of a play-off between clubs that have applied for membership by 31 December 2012, whose ground meets IFA Championship criteria by April 30, 2013 and that have won their respective intermediate leagues highest division (Northern Amateur Football League, Northern Ireland Intermediate League, Ballymena & Provincial League or the Mid Ulster Football League) in this current season.
Where there is only one such eligible applicant club, that club will be invited to participate in the IFA Championship 2 in Season 2013/14.
Where there are no such eligible applicant clubs there will be no promotion to IFA Championship 2 for Season 2013/14.
