Crues swoop to sign Marks
CRUSADERS boss Stephen Baxter has snapped up experienced midfielder Jamie Marks.
The 31 year old former Linfield and Portadown player put pen to paper following the Crues' unconvincing JJB Sports Premiership win over Institute at Seaview on Saturday.
Marks recently returned home after spending six months with his family in Cyprus.
He has been training with Linfield since his return, but Baxter moved quickly to secure the player's signature.
"It's great to be back, and I can't wait to get playing again," said Marks.
"We returned home three weeks ago, and I've been training with Linfield.
"It looked like I was going to be offered a short-term deal, then Stephen came in and offered me a contract that will take me into next season.
"I'm as fit as I ever have been. I was training for a second division team in Cyprus – a full-time outfit. I'm raring to go.
"I moved away to Cyprus after my contract with Portadown ended. My wife and I fancied a change while the kids were still young.
"We really enjoyed the lifestyle, but my wife became homesick, so we decided to return. We originally made a decision that if one of us found it difficult to settle, we would come home.
"We still have our house in Cyprus. We'll use it as a holiday home.
"I'm also back living in the same house in Belfast. The sale fell through the day before we left for Cyprus, so it has worked out really well.
"It has just been like a six month holiday in the sun for me. I'm also back working for my former employers, Parcelforce, starting at five in the morning."
