Crusaders draft in two goalkeepers following injury to Sean O’Neill

MOVEMENT: Crues boss Stephen Baxter

MOVEMENT: Crues boss Stephen Baxter

  • by Gareth Fullerton

Crusaders have recruited two goalkeepers following the serious injury to regular number one Sean O’Neill.

O’Neill has been ruled out for the rest of the season after he dislocated his collar bone in the last week’s Irish Cup draw with Linfield.

Now Crues boss Stephen Baxter has drafted in extra cover by signing experienced French keeper Yohann Lacroix and Longford Town shot-stopper Craig Hyland.

Lacroix had a spell with French club Lille and spent time with clubs in Greece and Singapore.

During his time in France the 27-year-old was a teammate of Eden Hazard, Yoyan Cabayeand Patrick Kluivert.

“Yohann is very experienced and Craig comes to us very highly rated,” said Baxter.

“I’m delighted to get both players on board.

“With Sean (O’Neill) ruled out for the remainder of the season, it was important we bolstered out options. Bringing Yohann and Craig in until the end of the season is a real boost as we approach a crucial stage of the season.”

It is hoped Hyland will be available for Saturday’s visit of Ballymena United, while Lacroix is awaiting international clearance.”
