Crusaders manager Baxter keen to prove a point against Bannsiders

ON A HIGH: Coleraine had a great win against champions Linfield last Monday

ON A HIGH: Coleraine had a great win against champions Linfield last Monday

CRUSADERS manager Stephen Baxter is hoping to exorcise some demons against high-flying Coleraine on Saturday afternoon.

The Crues were on the receiving end of a 3-1 defeat to the Bannsiders on the opening day of the season.

It was an early wake-up call for Baxter’s all-Ireland champions – but one they have certainly heeded.

An encouraging run of three wins on the bounce has elevated Crusaders to fourth spot in the Danske Bank Premiership – just two points behind Saturday’s opponents Coleraine.

“Coleraine taught us a real lesson in August and we were poor,” admitted Baxter.

“It’s probably as poor as we’ve played all season and wasn’t the way we wanted to kick-off the season.

“But that is gone now and we have moved on.

“I’m looking forward to playing them again this weekend and I think everyone is anticipating a good game.”
