Darren Boyce scored twice as Ballymena United defeated fellow Irish Cup semi-finalists Glenavon at the Showgrounds.

Ballymena took the lead on 36 minutes when Darren Boyce’s fired home, despite the efforts of Glenavon’s Mark Patton to keep the ball out on the goal-line.

Glenavon levelled on 63 minutes when Mark Patton curled a neat right-footed effort beyond Aaron Shanahan from the edge of the penalty area.

But United went back in front five minutes later when Boyce finished off a neat team move by converting Ally Teggart’s cross.
