Darren Murphy is urging his boys to build on last week’s stellar win when they entertain unbeaten Ballymena United at Stangmore Park on Saturday.

The Swifts produced possibly the performance of the season so far to claim a 2-0 win over Gary Hamilton’s Glenavon – Murphy now wants his team to follow that up with another 90 minutes of graft.

“The entire team, one-to 11, plus the lads that came on, deserve the credit for last week’s win,” said Murphy.

“I’ve told the boys, if they can maintain that form and keep taking the chances they are creating, we could be ok this season.

“We had a game plan and they stuck to it. We knew if we let the likes of Bradley, Bates and Braniff run riot, we’d be in trouble.

“It’s one of the most lethal strikes forces in the league. But we nullified their threat. We got the early goals which was a little bonus. I was thrilled with the performance.

“Now we come up against a side that is sitting at the top of the table. They are there on merit after three great results.

“They are playing with lots of confidence and, but all accounts, they could have beaten Portadown by a greater margin last week. Glenn (Ferguson) has them well drilled.

“That will be a warning to us. We’ll need another disciplined performance. The lads showed last week what they are capable of, they must now do it on a consistent basis.”
