Dungannon spoil Distillery party

DUNGANNON SWIFTS 1 LISBURN DISTILLERY 1

A controversial injury-time header from Ryan Harpur denied Lisburn Distillery a crucial victory at Stangmore Park.

The referee had blown for a penalty seconds before the midfielder’s effort crossed the line – but the goal was allowed to stand, infuriating the Whites’ players and manager.

Distillery looked to have snatched victory when Scott Davidson’s half-volley put them ahead with two minutes remaining.

But with time running out, Harpur got his head to a Terry Fitzpatrick cross to ensure a positive result from Darren Murphy’s first game in sole charge of Dungannon.

Earlier Niall Morgan had pulled off a fine save to keep out Michael Halliday’s penalty following a foul on Gary Liggett.

But the Whites will feel aggrieved that a stronger penalty shout minutes beforehand was turned down.

LISBURN DISTILLERY: Brennan, Harkness, Simpson, McCullough, Davidson, McCann, Liggett, Halliday, Ferguson, Hughes (Beggs, 72), Forsythe
