Ballymena United have completed the signing of striker Gary Liggett from Lisburn Distillery.

Liggett has agreed an 18-month deal with the Sky Blues to link up with former Whites teammate Glenn Ferguson.

Ferguson said he was “delighted” to have the striker on board.

“There were a number of clubs interested in Gary, so we are delighted to get him,” he said.

“I played with Gary at Distillery and coached him, so I know his strengths and weaknesses.

“We tried to sign both Gary and Shane Dolan last summer, and we have them now in the January window.

“It is no secret that we were looking to bolster our strike force after Gary McCutcheon’s departure. I think we have done that with Shane and Gary’s arrivals and they will give us plenty of presence up front.”

Liggett could make his debut in Saturday’s Irish Cup fifth round tie with Warrenpoint Town.

Former Donegal Celtic striker Dolan scored on his debut against Ballinamallard United last Friday.
