BALLYMENA 3 GLENTORAN 4
Glentoran kept up their impressive form with a dramatic 4-3 win over Ballymena United at the Showgrounds.
Ballymena took the lead on 23 minutes when David Cushley’s through ball released Alan Teggart and his shot beat Elliott Morris at the near post.
Allan Jenkins hit the underside of the crossbar with a shot for United before Glentoran equalised on 38 minutes when Jordan Stewart turned and shot into the bottom corner from 15 yards.
Two goals at the start of the second half put Glentoran firmly in control, the first coming four minutes after the re-start when a free kick wasn’t cleared by Ballymena, allowing Jim O’Hanlon to poke the ball under Addis.
And three minutes later it was 3-1 as Richard Clarke teed up Marcus Kane, whose effort curled beyond Addis.
Ballymena found a way back into the game on 64 minutes when Gary Liggett directed Ally Teggart’s wayward shot home but Stewart restored the Glens’ two-goal advantage three minutes later when he raced on to a long ball to beat Addis.
Teggart scored a second for Ballymena in stoppage time but there was no time to force an equaliser.
