LEAGUE CUP REVIEW

IRN-BRU League Cup holders Crusaders eased into the third round last night with a comfortable 3-0 win over Glebe Rangers.

Gary McCutcheon scored his first goal for the Seaview men from the penalty spot,before Timmy Adamson and Matthew Snoddy added two more in the second half.

One of the shocks of the night came at Stangmore Park as Dungannon Swifts were knocked out by Coagh United.

Coagh claimed a heroic 7-6 penalty shootout victory after the game had ended 2-2 after 120 minutes.

Last year’s beaten finalists Coleraine progressed with a 4-1 win over derby rivals Ballymoney United at the Riada Stadium.

Darren Boyce, Mark Gillan, Curtis Allen and Ruairi Harkin got the Bannsiders’ goals.

Ballymena United also had a routine night – running out 4-1 winners over Lurgan Celtic – Neil Lowry, Gary Thompson, Allan Jenkins and James McCabe on target.

Elsewhere, Portadown beat Dundela 3-0 with goals from Joe McNeill, Sean Mackle and Darren Murray, while Carrick Rangers crushed Killymoon 5-0.

Player-manager Gary Hamilton scored as Glenavon beat Sport and Leisure Swifts 6-1, while Gary Liggett scored a brace as Distillery defeated Limavady United 3-1.

Ballinamallard beat Knockbreda 4-1, Bangor defeated Armagh 4-2, Newry City lost 2-1 to Dergview, while Institute beat Banbridge Town 1-0.
