Holders lie in wait for winners of replay
COAGH United and Newbuildings will have to do it all again following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Hagan Park.
Newbuildings were dreaming of a shock when Paul McIvor put the visitors in front after only 11 minutes.
McIvor coolly tucked away Steven Curry’s pass to break the deadlock.
Unfortunately that lead only lasted four minutes with Coagh restoring parity with an equaliser.
It was also some bad luck for Newbuildings, with Graham Moore inadvertantly directing Scott McKeown’s cross into his own net.
It was a tense cup affair after that with chances at a premium, but fans could expect a feisty replay battle – scheduled to be played on Monday, February 20.
That’s because Saturday’s quarter-final draw saw Linfield handed home advantage against the winners of this tie.
A massive incentive for both teams and a dream date at Windsor Park lies in wait.
