Ballymena United battled back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with derby rivals Coleraine at the Warden Street Showgrounds.

Coleraine went in front in the last minute of the first half when David McDaid fired home a 25-yard shot which dipped over Aaron Shanahan in the blustery conditions.

Another spectacular long-range strike, this time by Ruairi Harkin, doubled the Bannsiders’ advantage six minutes into the second period.

Michael McLellan fired Ballymena back into the game on 62 minutes after he had rounded keeper Eugene Ferry.

Ballymena’s equaliser came from an Alan Teggart penalty three minutes from full-time after David Cushley had been brought down by Howard Beverland.

Coleraine’s Gary Browne was sent off in stoppage time for dissent.
