IRISH LEAGUE: Hard work the foundation for Nixon of any Ards form upturn

Ards boss Colin Nixon has put hard work and hard yards at the heart of his side’s return to form.

Momentum generated by Nixon’s arrival as manager late last year continued across a positive pre-season but Ards have kicked off the Danske Bank Premiership with three consecutive defeats.

“There are fine margins and we came into the season with a certain gameplan,” said Nixon. “We then lost a few players and have been hit by three defeats on the bounce.

“This game offers harsh lessons but we know we must rectify that run of results and the only way is by working hard in training then going into games ready to focus for 90 minutes.

“Warrenpoint is a tough place but we felt we deserved something from the game.”

Ards will host Dungannon Swifts tonight.
