Crusaders 1, Ards 0

DAVID Cushley netted a late goal at Seaview as Crusaders extended their lead at the top of the Danske Bank Irish Premiership to seven points.

Cushley’s 20 yard deflected strike gave the champions victory in the second minute of second half stoppage time - Crusaders’ second shot on target throughout the entire game.

It was far from their best performance but it was a case of job done for the league leaders who took full advantage of Linfield’s home loss to Cliftonville at Windsor Park.

Indeed, it will be a difificult result to take for Ards, however, as they fell to a late Crusaders winner for the second time this season. On September 4th it was Jordan Owens who headed in to clinch a 1-0 win at Clandeboye.
