Linfield got their Danske Bank Premier League campaign off to a winning start as they saw off gallant Carrick Rangers at Windsor Park..

Goals from Niall Quinn and Kirk Millar sealed the win for David Healy's side.

While Carick boss Davy McAlinden can be pleased with the way his side stuck to the task.

The Blues took the lead in the 15th minute through a great strike from Niall Quinn.

It was 2-0 to the Blues in the 39th minute. Quinn's cross found Kirk Millar - who headed home.

Linfield could have gone 3-0 mup in the 70th minute but Jordan Stewart's penalty was well saved by Carrick keeper Harry Doherty.
