Jeffrey unhappy after latest set-back
SHELL-SHOCKED Linfield boss David Jeffrey has called on his senior players to stand up and be counted after their fourth defeat in a row.
The champions have also failed to score in the miserable run and Dungannon Swifts took their opportunity to pile on the misery with a 3-0 Co-operative Insurance Cup first-leg win at Windsor Park last night.
"We will be making no excuses after that," conceded Jeffrey.
"We are being punished for elementary mistakes and it's not the young players doing it.
"The senior players are making mistakes and at the minute I don't know where a goal is going to come from to make up for it. I will stand up and be counted during this run and I am looking around to see who is beside me.
"We have to show determination, courage and resolve to get out of this.
"If some players don't think they can produce the goods then we will look at other options.
"I am just frustrated at the moment. But we are all together. We win together and lose together and will get out of it together. There will be nothing divisive in the camp," he added.
Dungannon boss John Cunningham admitted his side rode their luck in the second-half.
He said: "We did really well in the first-half and scored goals at good times but Linfield could have scored after that.
"We got them at a good time but there is no crisis there – they will come good soon."
