Oran Kearney has described the signing of Davy McDaid as a major coup for Coleraine.
Former Derry City striker McDaid has joined the Bannsiders after finalising terms on Tuesday night.
Kearney hopes the 23-year-old – who will be available from January 1 – will provide the necessary firepower to launch the Showgrounds club up the Premiership table.
“There’s no doubt about it this is as big a signing I’ve made since I’ve come to the club,” Kearney told the club’s official website.
“Davy is a fantastic acquisition for us. He is young but he has bags of experience, including playing in Europe for Derry last season when he scored a great goal away at Trabzonspor.
“He has a great pedigree who will bring so much to us. I’m over the moon to have secured his signature.”
McDaid – who has also had a spell with York City – scored 21 goals in over 80 appearances for Derry City.
“This is a big shot in the arm for us,” Kearney added.
“Since Curtis Allen left we have lacked a real predator and Davy will give us that edge. He is a terrific finisher.
“But there is also an honesty and a great work ethic in his play, which will give us an extra dimension up top.
“Davy had several good offers but he wanted to come here which is a major boost for us. He is keen to help fire us up the table.”
