McCann up for ‘big test’

RETURNING Northern Ireland midfielder Grant McCann insists he “can’t wait” to step out against Portugal in next week’s World Cup qualifier in Porto.

McCann was forced to sit out the double-header against Russia and Luxembourg as he sorted out his club future with Peterborough.

But following positive developments with the Posh international boss Michael O’Neill has recalled the ??-year-old for next Tuesday’s clash.

“People keep talking about Ronaldo, and there’s no doubt he is one of if not the best player in the world – but Portugal have other amazing players,” McCann said.

“These are the kinds of games you want to be involved in. You want to test yourself against the best out there and this is a chance to do that.

“Michael has assembled a good squad here and we are all feeling upbeat ahead of next Tuesday’s game.”
