Former favourites, Gareth McKeown and Davy Rainey last night returned to Seaview finally snuffed Crusaders Premier League title challenge.

Both players enjoyed a long and rewarding period with the Shore Road club, but there was to be no old pals act on this occasion.

Stephen Baxter’s team now require a miracle to get back in to the title race -- they trail table topping Linfield by 11 points.

Big Jordan Owens shot the Crues into an early lead, but big defender McKeown grabbed an equaliser before the break.

Rainey then bagged a goal of the season contender early in the second half. Although new signing Richard Clarke hit a wonder goal to equaliser, it was to little too late for the Crues.
