Glentoran boss Eddie Patterson is confident his young squad will continue to improve.
The Glens lost experienced duo Sean Ward and Andy Waterworth to Linfield during the summer, while veteran defender Colin Nixon was also released.
Patterson has put his faith in youth this season, resulting in an encouraging yet inconsistent campaign to date.
But the Oval chief is confident his young charges will continue to mature in the months and years ahead.
“We have a young squad, but a lot of them have been in this game a long time,” Patterson said.
“The likes of Jimmy Callacher is 22, but he has been playing in the first team since he was a teenager. He is one of the old heads in this squad.
“The majority of the boys are under the age of 24, and many of them are 20, 21, 22.
“If I get the chance to stay at the club then things will only get better because these young players are learning and improving.
“Things augur well for the future.”
