Warrenpoint chief Barry Gray is hoping for a ‘happy home coming’ when his team makes a little bit of history tonight by hosting their first Premiership game (7.45pm).
Gary Hamilton brings his improving Glenavon side to Milltown for the landmark occasion.
The league’s new boys have edged away from the bottom of the table -they are now four points clear of basement side Ards - but Gray is aware that three points tonight will catapult his team ahead of Coleraine.
Warrenpoint grabbed only their fourth win of the campaign with an away success over Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park - a venue they have been ground-sharing since August - and Gray insists his team must now build on that.
“It was good to have something to smile about,” said Gray, who was sent off last Saturday for speaking out of turn.
“We now have home advantage for the first time since our promotion, so hopefully, we’ll have a few hundred more fans to cheer us on.
“The boys displayed good application to get the win and, we’ve now put a little bit of daylight between ourselves and Ards.
“We are now looking at the team above us, Coleraine. They are only two points in front, so picking up three points will shoot us above them and give us a psychological advantage.
“Glenavon started the campaign really well, but have been blowing hot and cold. However, they are still up among the top six, so it will be a difficult 90 minutes for us.”
