Portadown manager Ronnie McFall has started building for the future with the signing of midfielder Robert Garrett.
It was announced on Friday night that Garrett (25) has signed a three-year deal with the Shamrock Park club.
The midfielder spent the past six seasons with Linfield, including a brief loan spell North American Soccer League club FC Edmonton in Canada.
“Robert is a welcome addition to our squad. He has signed a three-year deal and we are delighted to get him on board,” McFall said.
“He is a quality player and a combative midfielder.
“Before he went to Canada he was one of the best midfielders in the Irish League, so we are delighted to get him.”
Garrett’s arrival followed confirmation of four departures from the club.
Neil McCafferty, Ryan McStay, Matthew Rooney and Josh Barton have all been released after their contracts expired.
“We are rebuilding for the future and we have to balance things,” McFall added.
