Deadly strike duo Gary Twigg and Darren Murray bagged the goals that shot Portadown right back into the Premiership title race on Monday night.
Twigg struck early in the second half against a battling Glentoran at the Oval before Murray wrapped it up late on, putting away a penalty kick at the second attempt.
It was a far from impressive showing by both clubs in front of Sky Sports television cameras, but Ports boss Ronnie McFall, taking charge of the team for the 1001st league game, will not worry about that.
It was Glentoran’s first defeat in eight outings - ironically since their loss to Portadown at Shamrock Park back on September 28.
