Portadown eased past 10-man Sport & Leisure Swifts on a 4-0 scoreline at Shamrock Park.
The Swifts suffered a major setback inside the opening three minutes as Brian Moore’s handball on the line blocked Chris Ramsey’s shot but left the visitors down to 10 men. Darren Murray made no mistake from the penalty spot.
The away side almost levelled but Billy Brennan produced a near-post block to deny Pearce Tully.
Portadown controlled the rest of the half against the Championship 2 outfit - with Kevin Braniff a growing influence.
The Ports playmaker made his mark by smashing home an angled drive just past the half-hour mark from around 30 yards.
Moments later he arrowed a pass behind the Swifts backline for the energetic Nathan McConnell to collect and feed back towards Neil McCafferty. McCafferty’s pass was expertly controlled by Twigg and the striker’s swift turn created space before a clinical finish.
Twigg also featured in the game’s fourth goal - with his header across the crowded penalty area eventually forced home by Emmet Friars.
With the tie effectively over as a contest, Portadown used the opportunity to build the squad for future tests. Matthew Rooney, a recent arrival from Bangor, was handed his senior debut and Matthew Paget continued his progress back from ligament damage with a substitute appearance.
