David Rainey has left Glenavon to join Championship outfit Harland and Wolff Welders.
Rainey has signed a one-year deal at Tillysburn Park club with options becoming limited for the 38-year-old at Mourneview Park.
“We’ve brought in Kevin Braniff and Eoin Bradley so to be honest it was going to be hard for Davy to get into the team,” said Lurgan Blues boss Gary Hamilton.
“But he leaves as a cup winner and he has played a massive part in our progression over the last year. He goes with our thanks and best wishes.
“We are disappointed to lose him but it was the right decision to let him go and enjoy the last few years of his career. The Welders have got themselves a talented striker.”
