THE Irish FA recently teamed up with Rathmore Primary School in Bangor to roll out another of their ‘Fit Families’ events.
As an extension of the Department of Education funded Curriculum Sports Programme whereby Irish FA coaches work year-round in Primary Schools with Primary 1 to Primary 4 pupils on their agility, balance and co-ordination, the Fit Families event aims to help parents engage with their children and get them both more physically active.
Jordan Reid, Primary Schools Coach for North Down delivered the programme to a number of willing and eager parents with a mixture of facts and figures regarding the health benefits of exercise and recommendations for healthy eating, as well as, practical games and ideas to help make exercise fun.
Jordan explained: “This is a fantastic initiative from the Irish FA that will help reinforce what we are teaching in schools. Fit Families is all about getting parents to interact with their kidsand help foster participation.”
