Ronnie McFall hopes Portadown can dent both Linfield and Cliftonville’s title aspirations during Easter.

The Ports are preparing for a massive double-header which could determine the destination of the Gibson Cup this season – and their own European fortunes.

Saturday’s trip to Linfield is followed by a mouth-watering clash with Cliftonville three days later.

The Reds currently lead Linfield by just one point with three games remaining, and Portadown will have a significant say in which Belfast club will be celebrating at the end of the season.

McFall appreciates much of the focus will be on his rivals’ title aspirations, but insists his only focus is on trying to earn six points to try and boost the Shamrock Park club’s European aspirations.

“Obviously the next two games will be important. Not only for us, but for Linfield and Cliftonville,” McFall said.

“They are going for the title and need to pick up wins.

“But we don’t care about what other teams need. I am only focused on doing what’s best for Portadown, and we need the points to try and finish third and qualify for Europe.

“Saturday will be massive. It should be a great game at Windsor Park, one that my players should relish.

“These are the games you want to be part of. Games with so much at stake. So we are looking forward to it.”
