St Johnstone manager Steve Lomas is keen on European football after victory over Hibernian

Steve Lomas shouts out the orders during Monday night's win over Hibernian

Manager Steve Lomas admits he would love another crack at European football after watching St Johnstone produce an impressive 3-1 win over Hibernian.

The victory at Easter Road allowed Saints to leapfrog their hosts into fourth spot in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.

The Perth club faced Eskisehirspor in Europa League qualifying back in July and, with eight games to go until the league split, Lomas is keen to remain in the hunt for a European spot this time.

He said: “We really enjoyed our European adventure and we would love to get back there but it’s so tight this year and we’ve got a lot of tough games.

“But I did say to the lads that we’ve got eight games and that’s our cup run.

“What can we do? Treat each game as a cup final and see where it takes us.”

Rowan Vine grabbed a double and Patrick Cregg was also on the scoresheet, before Leigh Griffiths pulled a goal back late on.

Lomas added: “It was very good from start to finish.

“We’ve had a few games this season where we have had good performances and sometimes haven’t got what we deserved.

“But I thought we thoroughly deserved it tonight and if it had been by two or three more, there probably couldn’t have been much complaint.”
