Portadown ended Cliftonville’s long unbeaten run by landing their second Solitude victory of the season.
Gary Twigg was the matchwinner; popping up to convert Darren Murray’s dangerous 67th minute cross as the Ports boosted their own hopes of securing a European place at the business end of the season.
A tame encounter was almost livened up when both sides struck the woodwork in the first-half - Neil McCafferty clipping the bar for the visitors before Liam Boyce saw an effort come back off the post.
Either side of Twigg’s goal, Ports keeper David Miskelly proved his worth with a series of fine saves - with two from Joe Gormley particularly catching the eye as Ronnie McFall’s side held on for three crucial points.
