UEFA U19 FOOTBALL: Germany too strong for Scotland in opener

Germany produced a confident and controlled display as they easily disposed of Scotland in their opening Group A game at the UEFA Women’s Under-19 championship finals at the National Stadium, Belfast on Tuesday afteroon.

The Germans completed dominated the match and the scoreline probably should have been greater given the opportuites created by the four-times winners but Scotland goalkeepr Rebecca Flaherty put in a good shift in spite of the scoreline..

The Germans led 2-0 at the break after goals from Gwinn and Rieke.

The second half was less one-sided but it was the green shirts of Germany who continued in the asecendancy.

But they had to wait until the 79th minute to increase their lead when, with her first touch of the ball, replacement Memeti headed in a crossed ball.
