Veteran defender Colin Nixon is looking to enhance his romance with the Irish Cup when Bangor make the journey to face Warrenpoint Town at Milltown on Saturday.
The former Glentoran man has enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the tournament, having picked up the famous trophy on six occasions – from eight finals he appeared in.
Nixon, who played a record number of games in the green, red and black shirt before being rudely shown the door last season, now has a new focus – taking the Seasiders back to the Premiership.
However, he is not ruling out another roller-coaster ride in the top knockout tournament.
“It’s a wonderful competition, which has been good to me in previous years,” beams Nixon.
“Hopefully, I can relay to the younger lads in the dressing room what it is like to play in a final – it’s a fantastic day out.
“We’ll be looking no further than this game agianst Warrenpoint, of course. It will be a really difficult outing. But we can take a great deal of confidence from our win over them (3-2) in the League Cup earlier this season at Stangmore Park.
“They have performed wonderfully well since their promotion to the Premiership – and had a great win over my old club last weekend, so they will go into the game with bags of confidence.”
