FOOTBALL: IFA hoping to confirm American tour

THE Irish FA is hoping to confirm its summer tour of South and North America this week.

Nigel Worthington's squad will take on Chile and one other as yet unnamed nation at the end of May.

Windsor Avenue chiefs are confident a deal can be finalised by the end of the week.

IFA President Raymond Kennedy said: "We are still working on our plans for the tour, but the dates being pencilled in are from May 24-31.

"Hopefully it can be finalised in the next few days."

Chile will be one of Northern Ireland's opponents, with Turkey and Nigeria also interested in a friendly international with Worthington's side.

The tour will work towards preparation for the forthcoming European qualifiers which kick-off in September.
