Ronan O’Neill’s 1-3 haul and 0-5 from Connor McAiskley proved decisive.

Tyrone are unbeaten in 2016 and have now claimed three pieces of silverware in a matter of months having previously captured the Dr McKenna and O Fiaich Cups in pre-season.

“It’s always tough to win titles and trophies and Cavan had been on a upward curve since the first two league games,” said Harte.

“They were up for the task and I felt that it was a really good game.

“We were happy enough at half-time leading 11-8. I always feel that the start of the second half is very important and if you are in a position like that and can push on with a few more scores then that makes it difficult for the opposition.

“We had a few good chances at the start of the second half and didn’t take them and then Cavan got a score to close the gap. The goal, when it came, gave us a cushion.”

In the Division Four final, Antrim lost out to Louth 3-12 to 1-14.

Clare won the Division Three final while Dublin claimed their fourth successive league crown with a comprehensive 2-18 to 0-13 victory over 14-man Kerry.

A red-card for Kerry’s Aidan O’Mahoney was a decisive moment in the game
