Tyrone overpowered Louth by a massive margin of 17 points at Healy Park to claim their place in the second round of the All-Ireland qualifiers in Omagh.

Mickey Harte’s men were only 0-9 to 0-7 ahead at half-time but they ran away with it in a one-sided second period.

The goals came within five minutes of the restart, the first scored by Emmett McKenna from Peter Harte’s lay-off.

Stephen O’Neill palmed into the net for the second after Mattie Donnelly had played the ball across.

It was a second heavy Championship defeat for Louth as three weeks earlier they had slumped to a 1-22 to 1-7 defeat by Kildare in the Leinster quarter-finals.
