BlackStar Sports will confirm later on Wednesday that Michael Hoey has joined their Management Company.

Hoey, one of Northern Ireland’s leading golfers and who represents Galgorm Castle Golf Club and Estates, is currently 36th in the 2014 Race To Dubai.

The 35-year-old won his fifth European Tour title last season when winning the 2013 M2M Russian Open – but is unable to defend that title this weekend due to a foot injury.

Hoey also won the Trophee Hassan in 2012 and won twice in 2011, which included the prestigious Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews.

“I’m really excited about joining BlackStar Sports and look forward to working with them as I prepare for a busy second half of 2014.” Hoey told the News Letter.

Hoey, a former British Amateur Champion and Walker Cup team member, is looking to build on an already impressive season which has seen him rise back up the World Rankings to a current position of 166, having started the year ranked 247

With five top-10s in the past seven months on the European Tour, Hoey will be looking to add to his current five-win tally.

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Michael join BlackStar Sports and look forward to assisting him progress in his golfing career,” Blackstar Sports Jeremy Robinson said.
