Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland is sponsoring a Charity Golf Day on Thursday May 26 in aid of the Mayor’s Charity, ‘The Mary Peters Trust’. Lisburn Golf Club is very kindly hosting this sporting fundraising event.

The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Thomas Beckett and Coca-Cola are calling on all golfing enthusiasts and local companies to work with them by participating and/or sponsoring holes at this fun day out of the office to raise funds for the Mayoral Charity.

Councillor Thomas Beckett, speaking about the fundraising event, said: “This Charity Golf Day is a perfect way for golfers to enjoy, network and support a good cause while playing golf. Local businesses will also have the opportunity to sponsor one of the 18 holes in aid of charity.

“The Charity Golf Day is the latest of a programme of fundraising activities that have been organised to support my Mayoral Charity, the Mary Peters Trust.

“This Northern Ireland Charity is no stranger to the world of golf and has in fact supported Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy in their early days as they started out on the professional golf circuit.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported the wide variety of fundraising events held during my term to date, and would ask for your continued support in this sport orientated event. A number of local businesses that I have met during my time as Mayor have expressed an interest in this event; and I hope to see them again on the day. The support of local resident and golf club member Maurice Leathem and Alderman Paul Porter in helping to arrange the day is much appreciated, so thank you gentlemen.

“This Golf Day is another opportunity for people to provide their support for this worthwhile charity. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Lisburn Golf Club for hosting the event and Coca-Cola for its significant sponsorship of the event,” he concluded.

Gillian Shields, Community Affairs Manager, from Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland added: “We were delighted to be partnering with Lisburn Golf Club to support the Mayor’s Charity Golf Day. As a local business we have been investing in community and charitable projects for over 75 years and we are proud to be supporting the council in staging an event which is raising funds for ‘The Mary Peters Trust’. The Mayor’s Charity Golf Day has been hugely successful over the years and I am sure this will continue into 2016.

“As a local company we have been investing in community and charitable projects for over 70 years and are proud to be partnering with Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.”

Registration on the day at Lisburn Golf Club begins at 11.00 am with a shotgun start at 12.00 noon. A bacon butty will be provided to each golfer before tee-off and then a buffet dinner will be served after all ‘four balls’ have completed the course. There will also be a prize giving ceremony and a ballot taking place after the round of golf.

Tickets are £160 for each ‘four ball’ and a minimum of £100 to sponsor one of the 18 golf holes. For further information on the Charity Golf Day contact the Mayor’s Office on 028 9250 9331 or email mayors.secretary@lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk
