Persistent fog brought an early end to play at day two of the Amateur Championship at Royal Portrush and Portstewart.
Only limited play was possible on Tuesday morning before thick fog enveloped both courses. This resulted in an eight hour 13 minute delay at Royal Portrush and a four and a half hour delay at Portstewart.
Play resumed at both courses but was subject to further suspensions throughout the afternoon. Play will resume at both courses at 7.30am on Wednesday, weather permitting.
At the end of the second round of qualifying the leading 64 players will progress to the match-play stages.
Meanwhile, Mary Doyle (The Heath) beat Jess Carty (Holywood) to win the Irish Women’s Close Championship at Enniscrone Golf Club.
The final, played in glorious conditions was a one-sided affair with Doyle winning the opening five holes. Carty fought back to reduce the deficit to just two holes after 13, but Doyle eventually wrapped up the match on the 17th.
