Rory McNamara (Headfort) and Cormac Sharvin (Ardglass) finished Amateur Championship qualifying at Portstewart and Royal Portstewart as the leading Irishmen on the north coast.

Following Tuesday’s fog disruption, Sharvin carded a 70 while McNamara a 69 to comfortably qualify for the match-play stages which get under way on Thursday at Royal Portrush.

England’s Daniel Brown topped the standings on eight under, with the cut for the leading 64 players falling at four over par.
