Graham sparkles in Kilkeel cup win

A double strike from Ashton Graham helped secure the McClements Cup for Kilkeel II’s as they thumped Banbridge III’s 4-1 in a superb finals day at Stormont.

Further goals from David Tremlett and Mark Henning notched up a memorable victory for the South Down side, with Douglas Anderndont scoring for Bann.

But Kilkeel’s win was tainted with disappointment as they were not presented with the McClement’s Cup, that’s for another day!

Portadown III’s edged out Portrush II’s 2-1 in a closely fought Minor Cup Final.

Goals from David Winter and Luke Cambers were enough to take the trophy back to their Edenvilla base.

A solitary goal from Johnny McMeekin was enough to land the Junior Shield, as they defeated Cookstown IV 1-0.

Meanwhile Instonians and Annadale both avoided the wooden spoon in their final IHL pool games.

Inst trailed Cork Harlequins 1-0 until the goals flowed in with James Patterson, Stephen Kelso, John Watson, James Corry and Chris Kirk all scoring for Inst.

And even though Annadale lost 2-1 to Cork Church of Ireland, they finished above Corinthian on goal difference.

The rearranged Irish Hockey Trophy semi-final between Portadown and Newry will take place tomorrow night and Edenvilla Park.

The winners will play Bandon in the final on 12 April

There is no date confirmed when the premiership relegation/promotion game between Civil Service and North Down will be played.
