It’s winner-takes-all in Wednesday night’s crucial promotion-relegation playoff between Lisnagarvey and Cookstown at the Glade (8pm).
The winners will be playing in the Premier League next season while the losers will have to be content with Senior One hockey.
Normally the top flight team prevails but Lisnagarvey are expecting a tough game against a Cookstown side that includes a prolific striker in Claire Brown.
“Claire is a great player who is always capable of scoring goals so she will have to be carefully watched,” said ‘Garvey coach Simon Toole.
“But it would be foolish to concentrate on just one player and they looked a good team when we watched them.
“We are very grateful to Victorians, the Ulster Elks and Queen’s all of whom played us since we finished our league campaign.
“We won two of the games but it was also good that we played quite well in our last two league games despite losing 2-1 to both Ballymoney and Randalstown.”
Cookstown know they are up against it but they believe that relatively recent experience of playing ‘Garvey should stand to them.
“Getting a chance at gaining a Premier League spot tops of what has been a great season for us.” said captain Louise Donaghy.
“We know we have a very tough job on our hands as ‘Garvey will be a well organised and extremely fit team and we are not unfamiliar with their style of play as we played them last season.”
