Lurgan College will meet Rainey Endowed in the Ulster Senior Schools Cup final at Lisnagarvey on March 5 after a comfortable 3-0 win over Ballyclare High at the same venue yesterday.
The result provided them with belated revenge as it was Ballyclare who beat them in the decider two years ago.
Yesterday the Ulster and all Ireland champions seldom looked like losing the game and will start as favourites next month.
“I thought we dominated most of the match, kept our discipline and stuck to our game plan so I was very pleased with our performance,” said Lurgan coach Julie Hinds. “The players deserve a lot of credit for the way they played and kept their shape and we scored some good goals as well.”
Ballyclare coach Michelle Rainey had no complaints about the outcome.
“Three-nil was probably a fair reflection of the way the game went and I am not quite sure what went wrong as far as we were concerned,” she said.
Lurgan captain Hanna Grieve set up the opening goal in the 20th minute when her penalty corner found Julie Morrow, who deflected the ball home.
Three minutes before half time it was 2-0 when Kathryn Edgar slammed the ball home with a strong shot and Samantha Bann wrapped things up when she made it 3-0 with a reverse stick shot after the restart.
