Ards had mixed fortunes on day one of the European Indoor Challenge tournament in Lisbon on Friday, winning one game and losing another.
They began with a 5-0 win over the Hungarian champions but then fell to a 6-0 defeat against the Turkish representatives.
Ards need to secure a top two finish if they are to promote themselves into the second tier next year having retained their national crown in January.
“The Turks gave us a lesson in clinical finishing and counter attacking hockey scoring two great penalty corners and a penalty stroke among their goals.” said Ards captain Naomi Elliott.
Ards had got off to the perfect start as they opened the day with a 5-0 win over the Hungarians in a match they dominated from start to finish.
Goals from Naomi Elliott, Chloe Brown (2), Katy Bennett and Becky Weir sealing the win.
