Katie Morris has lost her fitness battle and has been ruled out of the Ulster Under 21 squad for next month’s interprovincial title defence in Dublin.
The Queen’s midfielder has lateral ligament damage and isn’t expected to be available to play club hockey until the middle of February at the earliest.
But coach Ali McNeill has been able to name a strong squad which includes two current Ireland senior internationals.
Former Ballymoney striker Katie Mullan and Ards midfielder Chloe Brown who made her debut in the recent series win over Spain in Terrassa, are both included.
Ulster look particularly strong up front with Lucy McKee, who hit five goals in last year’s decisive 7-0 win over South East, also, in the panel for the tournament on February 7-9 at Grange Road.
McKee is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Irish hockey and is playing in the English Premier League with top side Clifton as she combines her hockey with her studies at Bristol University.
