Two goals from Robert Irwin helped move Newry to the top of Senior One for the first time this season, but they had to work hard for their win, seeing off Antrim 4-3 in a closely fought contest.
Goals from Adrian Murtland and Neil McCullough and an own goal, had Antrim in the game but Newry were determined that they were going to finish 2013 at the top of the league.
And two goals from Irwin and one-a-piece from John Taylor and Keith McWilliams secured all three points for the visitors and the number one slot. Bottom of the table Cliftonville came close to securing their first win of the season, but they squandered a two goal lead to lose 4-3 to Bangor.
Jarryd Allen (2) and Julian Stevenson were the scorers for Cliftonville but two goals from Rees Cunningham, an own goal and a late minute strike from James Mottishaw gave all three points to the seasiders.
A Joel Easlea hat-trick moved Campbellians away from the drop zone, as they saw off South Antrim 3-2.
It was only Campbellians second win of the season but it now puts some distance between themselves and Cliftonville, who must be favourites to drop back to Senior Two.
