Members of the Ireland senior training panel face an anxious 24 hours as they wait for an email tomorrow which will tell them if they have been selected for a glamour trip to Spain in the New Year.
It is likely around 20, or perhaps slightly more, players will make the short flight to the continent and several Ulster girls are among those keeping their fingers crossed.
Ards striker Chloe Brown, Ballymoney goalkeeper Sammy-Jo Greer and Pegasus winger Robyn Chambers are all in the frame.
None of those players has yet been capped at senior international level but it will be a question of what blend of youth and experience national coach Darren Smith will opt for.
There are also several established internationals from Ulster who could make the cut including the trio who took part in the recent EuroHockey Championship in Belgium.
Team captain Alex Speers, Shirley McCay and Megan Frazer were on the plane to Boom.
Speers and McCay both play their hockey in Dublin while Frazer is based in England so, again it depends on Smith who may wish to concentrate more on the players he knows less about.
The trip is part of the preparation for the Champions Challenge II tournament which is scheduled for Glasgow at the end of April and the start of May.
