With 40 minutes played, the Giants were behind 1-0 after Slovakian player Juraj Kolnik fired the Panthers into the lead.

However, undeterred, the Belfast side mounted a dramatic comeback to smash five goals past the home team in the final period.

David Rutherford, Mike Radja, Craig Peacock, Colin Shields, and Mike Forney were on target for the Giants.

The result means the Giants are seven points adrift of leaders Cardiff, but with the advantage of a game in hand.

They still have to play the Cardiff Devils three times during the title run-in, with the Elite League crown still very much in the balance.

The Giants have moved into fourth position in the championship table ahead of the Braehead Clan, who will be in action on Saturday night.
