Irish international Noel Graham has joined line-up for next month’s prestigious County Antrim Bowls Club’s short mat singles tournament.
The Lisburn man will go head-to-head with a number of players steeped in short mat tradition, including the Stubbs brothers, Raymond and Gordon, along with Newcastle’s Aidan Corrigan.
Dungannon players Ian Hobson had the honour of winning the title in its inaugural year 12 months ago and he will be back to defend his crown.
Lorimour Fuels, from Crumlin, have again thrown their weight behind the event, which starts on October 3. Games will also be staged on October 4, 5, 9, 10 and 11.
Finals are penciled in for Thursday, October 17.
“It’s the first of a number of short match tournaments we will be hosting over the season,” said County Antrim manger Rod Coleman.
“We held the singles for the first time last year and it proved to be an enormous success.
“We are also planning to stage our Christmas Triples competition, which gets under way on Boxing Day . . . . and also the County Antrim pairs in February, which will be held for the third time.
“These tournaments have been a big hit with the short mat fraternity.
“Everything is now in full swing at the club, with all the different leagues up and running.
“We also have the PBA world and singles qualifiers this weekend. It should be good,” he added.
Entry fee for the short mat singles is £4.
